Organized by the Hong Kong Sailing Federation (HKSF), the 2021 HKSF Selection Regatta was concluded on Thursday(5/8). 28 sailors have joined the regatta to compete in the classes of 29er, Laser 4.7 and Laser Radial respectively, with some of them hoping to compete for a spot to get selected for the HKSF National Youth Sailing Team for Year 2022.
With the Typhoon signal No.3 removed at 4:20 in the morning, the first day of the regatta started with some gentle Northerly on a cloudy day and was able to start as planned.
Three races were run for the 29er class and two races were run for the Laser Radial and Laser 4.7 classes before wind started to ease as forecasted. And a decision was made to call it a day at 2p.m. After the races on the first day, Casey Law and Jack Dingemans were leading in the class of 29er, with 13 year-old Peter Jessop being ahead of the rest in the class of Laser 4.7. The competition was much more intense within the class of Laser Radial, as Nicholas Bezy and Stan Picard were neck and neck in the races.
The second day of the regatta started with a moderate Westerly on a cloudy day. Five races were run for the 29er and Laser 4.7 classes. Four races were run for the Laser Radial class. A 5th race was not run for the Laser Radial class as rain clouds moved into the area, bringing in some heavy rainfall.
As the day came to a close, Casey Law and Jack Dingemans continued with their strong showing to finish in first in the 29er class, with young Peter Jessop cementing his place at the top of the Laser 4.7 class after 5 races. In a much closer and exhilarating battle of the Laser Radial, Nicholas ultimately finished with the number 1 ranking ahead of Stan.

Any young Hong Kong sailors who would like to become part of HKSF National Youth Sailing Team for Year 2022 can participate in any upcoming class championships in 2021 or the upcoming Southside Regatta held by Aberdeen Boat Club in December.
